RETURN OF THE FAMILY MAN, a South African remake of THE STEPFATHER. A terrible film with the first shot showing a wide angle picture of a giant pizza 😳🐢
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

Yeah, that house was really cool. The interior was actually a studio set, though.

My favorite character? Rosa, the housemaid. She made the movie worthwhile for me  :teddyr:

They had plans for a sequel called "When a Stranger Returns" with a new babysitter, but it was cancelled.
Is it October yet?

I like rap and I like Busta Rhymes as an emcee (though I didn't recall Ra Digga's co-features). I even like some hip hop from the past 20 years... John "Blu" Barnes (particularly w/ the producer Exile) has gotta' be a legitimate GOAT contender. And MF DOOM's last real album was only about 12 years ago, and obv he's continued to have a Tupac-like influence even from beyond the grave. (Rest in Superpower, DOOM.) I'll go look up Digga on RYM.......

I even like Busta as an actor. "Yo, SHAFT!!!" That HALLOWEEN was no one's finest hour, of course...

yeah if it wasn't for mf doom I think I might've completely zoned out of hip hop back in around 03-04 when guys like 50 cent were everywhere and I could not stand that stuff. I never liked eminem either... I am aware of blu & exile but never checked their releases

Blu is one of those guys who works constantly and spreads himself a little thin but his output never drops below a reasonable level of quality, and his best stuff (mostly his self-produced stuff and his work w/ Exile) is  :hot:. I'd put his lyrics and his flow on "Bad News Barnes" against anybody else on any track full-stop.

Maybe it's just because I saw it first, but I really like the 1990 remake of "Night of the Living Dead".
"Slugs?  He created slugs? I would have started with lasers, six o'clock, day one!" -- Evil, Time Bandits

It's interesting, for sure... it makes changes that somewhat mute the impact of the original's ending, but hey, why make a remake that's identical to the original anyway?

I am eternally confused with the timeline and sequel/prequel/remake/reboot status of any of the '...OF THE DEAD' or '...OF THE LIVING DEAD' movies. I've seen a few but no idea which ones. Only thing I'm fairly sure of is the first one of the bunch is in black and white.... :)

^ The first 3- NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1969), DAWN OF THE DEAD (1979), and DAY OF THE DEAD (1985) are the 3 original George Romero films. The rest SUCK.
Well, RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD (1985) is not related to the Romero films except maybe in spirit- the one with punks vs zombies- I like that one! and # 3 of that series as well.

ok so the '...LIVING DEAD' ones are not connected at all to the '...OF THE DEAD' ones?

I kinda liked the HILLS HAVE EYES remakes...I'm just sick and tired of remakes. I like NEW ideas! And I think there are a lot of new horror films of the last 20 years that are fantastic. YELLOWBRICKROAD (2010), CHINK (2013), BLACK MOUNTAIN SIDE (2014)- all great original films. f**k all this lame remake s**t.

not heard of those 3 but might have to check them out, as like you I am pretty disillusioned with the never-ending remake cycle

how about a movie where a killer is stalking the set of a remake in production?! (I have a vague feeling that is the plot of the as yet unreleased MUTILATOR 2? might be wrong...)

Not the same idea, but Scream 3 takes place in Woodsboro and LA where production is underway on Stab 3, the film series within the Scream series about the events of Scream. The director, a few actors from the film are partially attacked as a way of bringing in attention from Dewey, Gale and Sidney, victims of Ghostface in the Scream world.

Jay and Silent Bob appear in a small cameo.

ah yes. forgot about that....

another interesting thing is that in THE LAST HORROR FILM (1982), the (fictional) film Caroline Munroe's character is promoting at the Cannes Film Festival  is called 'Scream', and just before she gives her press conference we see a poster for another fictional film called 'Stab'..   :buggedout:
