When a friend of mine quit heroin she substituted eating candy and gained a lot of weight. Not good, but so much better than the alternative that no one tried to stop her. Deal with the most pressing issue first.

My problem is/was drinking, and it wasn't starting,  it was stopping.  Good on your friend on getting clean.

the current bitcoin really will be short lived. there is no reason for it to go up, no more free money to pump the price up, and economic outlook hasn't changed.

The only reason for it to go up is constantly increasing scarcity, but yeah, I agree. Bitcoin could crash to near zero someday.
