My Mom just almost got scammed by a guy with an AI voice thing. He was pretending to be my nephew who is in Colorado. "Grandma I need 20 thousand dollars or I'm gonna go to jail". He told her not to call my sister cuz there was a "gag order". Luckily the teller at the bank knew what was up.

Which idiot banned you in the first place, Rev? 😳

I did. I banned a whole range of IPs because we got nothing but spam from them. Then I went on vacation in the IP range I had banned.
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

My son and I have made a pact that the summer he turns sixteen we're going to walk the Israel National Trail together. Red Sea to the Golan Heights. Six weeks.
What does not kill me makes me stranger.

Hope all will be well. 🙏
The good news is that it's nothing serious. They're not really sure what's wrong, but it's nothing serious.

Good 😊😊🐢
I believe I have bruised muscles since my organs appear to be fine from a CT scan. It just stings like hell.

Quote from: Leah on January 02, 2025, 10:51:42 PM2025 is most likely going to suck for me; I'm likely going to lose two relatives this year. One us in hospice care after suffering from a stroke, the other is in a nursing home and their mind is deteriorating.
I lost one.
Today was his memorial and I've been all over the place emotionally. Sadness and crying to rage with Houston's decisions to shut down 3 lanes of a 4 lane highway for roadwork to happiness for celebrating his life to relief that no one gave me a second look, meaning that I pass well. It's been a day.
yeah no.

A plea to BoardGameGeek

Any game can be a hobby game, provided one plays it regularly as a leisure activity; that's the definition of a hobby.

Separating hobby & regular games rankles me a bit, since it creates an environment of exclusion, & I'm afraid this BGG Hall of Fame will only worsen said environment. It seems to be another way of saying "these are the correct games to play, if you want to be a hobbyist," while ignoring that people play other types of games on a regular basis.

Go, Chess, & other abstracts. Scrabble & Monopoly & Trivial Pursuit & other games made by major companies. Wahoo & 42 & Pachisi & other traditional games. Bridge & Rummy & other card games. People play these regularly, for the purpose of leisure, so, by definition, these are hobby games.

We should find a way to expand the site to other types of gamers, not to retreat, creating a weird exclusive club. This may have been appropriate in 1999, when every ISP game their users web space to talk about their hobbies, & when small, independent sites were easy to find in Yahoo or DMOZ, but the web's changed; keeping the site focused on certain games creates a distorted view of reality, of what gaming is like.
