Jazz-rock (jazz fusion that's more on the rock side with electric guitar solos, etc.)

This is flawless

This was a lot gayer than I was expecting.

"Salt River" by Sam Amidon. "Avant-folk." Good, creative reimaginings of folk music in a modern style; it's too bad his voice sucks.

Indie rock deep cuts from 1992. Never heard any of the songs, never even heard of 90% of the bands.

Another new score for the silent film, from the soundtrack composer of "Nightmare on Elm Street 2," "Hellraiser," and other horror films. I love that these still get made and this one is pretty good.

interesting comp. I am familiar with most of those bands, although I counted 20 bands I've never heard of...

this is all the kind of stuff a DJ called Steve Lamaq (who is still going) would play on his show called The Evening Session. also John Peel would play some of those bands

If I had to recommend one album by one band on that whole list it would be BOO RADLEYS - GIANT STEPS

(just relistened to GIANT STEPS... not as good as I remembered tbh. listener beware.)

FAITH NO MORE - ANGEL DUST

I go back to this every couple of years. an album that holds up great. I never got into anything else they did, but this album is  t'riffik

Jazz with rapping (light, but still too much rapping for me to enjoy)

Then I go and listen to 100% rap...
