Curious if anyone here has seen any of these films. There's been horror films based on characters now being in the public domain. The Popeye film is not included. Released so far:

Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey
Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey 2
Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare
Bambi: The Reckoning
Pinocchio Unstrung.

Upcoming films include Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble, where they team up like the Avengers, as well as films based on Alice in Wonderland and Mary Poppins.

Peter Pan was good. Blood and Honey 2 was a better film than 1. Bambi was ok. Wasn't as bad as I expected.

Haven't seen any and I think it was my thing, frankly - but I would watch Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble!

I've seen Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey, Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare and Bambi: The Reckoning.

From what I read, only the 1929 Popeye character is in public domain, but with restrictions? All side characters like Olive and Bluto are not, or something. The "public domain" on Popeye & Co. seems kind of complicated.

Either way, they are obviously cash-grabs. I'm surprised The Asylum isn't all over these.

I found a conflicting report that Olive and her family are allowed, but not other characters just yet.

The Winnie the Pooh situation was similar. Which is why in the first we only had him, but the sequel had Piglet. The third can add Tigger, etc, because their public domain dates are later. And even with that, the producers have to avoid specific Disney creations, like Winnie in a red shirt, or Eeyore's color, etc.

Sad. Fair enough though, but I thought Pan was the best one.
