70/80s movie.

Hiya. I'm looking for the name of a movie that I saw on TV a long time ago. Major points in the movie are:

Lead male takes some pills (Unintentionally overdoses) and wakes up to find that almost everyone has vanished.
He finally meets up with the Lead female ( who also died it transpires at the same point in time as the male lead).
The plot is that some sort of (nuclear?) reactor is regularly sending out pulses, which are transporting all who die at the time of each pulse to a new dimension (parallel universe).

The end sees the man and women blow up the reactor by driving a big truck with some sort of explosive on it, into a building, thereby destroying the source.

The twist is that they then wake up (having died again) and the sky has all sorts of different planetary bodies in it.

Any help would be well appreciated.
