Weird, sometimes frightening stories, designed to be copied from one site to the next, sometimes labeled as real.

Does anyone here like them, or are they too corny, gross, etc?

I've been listening to some on YouTube; some are ok.

I once shared this story I found online on another forum in the early 2010s. I thought it was "maybe" a real story, until people told me it was from creepypasta.
That's how I found out about creepypasta. Haven't read any of their stuff ever since.
Is it October yet?

never really understood what that term meant, but I guess it's the equivalent of dark / scary urban myths or campfire tales etc?

I like a good creepy 'maybe true' yarn, if it's at least semi-believable...

Creepy Pasta is a double bastardization of "Copy Paste" as that's how the stories were originally shared.  People would just copy and paste them from site to site and pass them around.  Copy Paste got turned into "copypasta" because the internet likes to make weird names for things and from their the scary stories got labeled as "Creepy Pasta."

I have a hard time saying I dislike them, because it's just scary stories.  I can't say I dislike scary stories.  I will say that there's way to much focus on certain scary story characters though.

Also, the original Jeff the Killer story is about the stupidest and least scary story you'll ever run into.

I read a couple of stories on it a long time ago, but to be kind I'll call them amateurish. I guess if I really looked I'd find better stuff, but I didn't see the point in searching through the dross.

Reading up on it. Apparently, the character was named after an image posted to a forum by a user called "KillerJeff."

Read the story too. Hoooo... boy. I get what they were trying to do; a kid with dark impulses is pushed too far by bullies, but it's too poorly written.

Apparently, there was an earlier version, where Jeff was an adult who snapped after an accident. That version may be lost.

And someone re-wrote the version about the kid in 2015. That's supposed to be better, but I've not read it,
