The Burgomaster

I just bought the restored DVD of this legendary giallo film.

The story involves a mentally disturbed young woman who may be responsible for a brutal stabbing murder.

There was a lot of controversy surrounding this movie for 2 main reasons:

* An abundance of nudity and eroticism, especially in the first 1/3 of the film,

* "Shocking" gore scenes, including a scene of live dogs with their pulsating hearts and lungs exposed.

The scenes with the dogs got Lucio Fulci and Carlo Rambaldi in some hot water with animal rights groups and the legal system.  They had to demonstarte in court that the scene was not real - - just special effects.  I guess audiences were more easily fooled in 1971, because the dog scene is obviously not real.

The restored scenes include segments that were apparently never dubbed into English, because all of the sudden, everyone is speaking Italian with subtitles (I also have a copy of DEEP RED that has Italian language scenes inserted).

Overall, I really enjoyed this movie - - although, I think the final 30 minutes aren't as interesting as the earlier parts of the film.  Worth watching if you are a fan of Fulci or giallo movies.

I want to get a copy of this one. I love giallos and this is one I have yet to see. Plus, I'm a Fulci fan, so it's a double must see.

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.
